Community Clean Out Day with Habitat for Humanity Of Dane County

The TWO MEN AND A JUNK TRUCK® team partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County to host Community Clean Out Day on July 11th. I don't know about you, but I feel like cleaning out a garage is one of those things everybody says they're going to do... until it's actually time to do it. That's why I thought our Community Clean Out Day with Habitat for Humanity of Dane County was such a cool idea.
Instead of letting stuff keep collecting dust around the house, people had a chance to load it up and bring it to one place. Throughout the day we saw everything from furniture and electronics to building materials and household items. Some people only had a couple things to drop off, while others had truckloads, they were finally able to clear out.
Community members stopped by throughout the day to drop off furniture, electronics, household items, and other unwanted belongings. If you weren’t able to make it to the event, our junk removal team helps homeowners and businesses clear out unwanted items all year long. I would say what stood out to me the most was knowing that not everything people dropped off was headed for the landfill. A lot of the stuff was still in really good shape and could actually be used by someone else. Instead of collecting dust in someone's garage for another five years, it now has the chance to help another family, and I think that's what made this event different.
Visitors could also enjoy giveaways, prizes, and activities while dropping off their unwanted items. It was great getting to work with the Habitat for Humanity team. Everybody was super easy to work with, and it was nice seeing people continue to stop by throughout the day. It definitely kept us busy, but in a good way.
We also had a cookout where families could grab food and spend time together during the event. It was also pretty cool having WMTV 15 News come out and cover the event. You don't always get to see a local event like this make the news, so hopefully it encourages even more people to come out if we do something like this again.
I really hope this isn't the last event we do like this. It was awesome seeing so many people come out, clean out their homes, and support a great cause at the same time. I think sometimes people just need a reason to finally clean out that garage or basement they've been putting off for months... or maybe even years. If you've been putting off a cleanout yourself, we'd be happy to help.
At the end of the day, that's what this event was all about. Community events like this are about more than clearing out unwanted items. They're about bringing people together. A big thank you to everyone who came out, donated items, volunteered, and helped make the day a success. We also want to thank Habitat for Humanity of Dane County for being such a great partner. We couldn't have done it without them.
We always enjoy finding new ways to get involved in the communities we serve, and we're already looking forward to the next opportunity.
