COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: Trunk or Treat Time

Autumn in Illinois is one of our favorite times of the year: crisp breezes, falling leaves, cornfield mazes… And with it comes a variety of community events throughout the Fox Valley—everything from Oktoberfests and orchard picking to hayrides & haunted houses. One of our favorite events of the season has been Trunk or Treat night at Mercy Housing in Batavia.

The residents of Batavia Apartments came together with community members for an evening of fun. Cars and minivans filled the parking lot of the complex so families could safely and conveniently trick or treat.

Our TWO MEN AND A JUNK TRUCK staff met so many great people and saw a wide variety of creative costumes. (Our favorite “costume” was our sister company, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, who disguised the car with an impressively large cutout of their logo). But the absolute best part about Trunk or Treat this year was… books.

From various cleanouts and jobs we’ve handled, a lot of books have come our way. And while some are immediately donated or recycled, we were sure to put aside a portion to donate for this kid-friendly event. Residents could choose from over 200 gently used books to take home with them. We also brought plenty of candy, of course (we aren’t ogres). Tricks aside, the books were a hit with everyone!

Thank you, Mercy Housing, for including us in the festivities. Until next year!
